GSA targets small businesses for new IT contracts

The General Services Administration is leaning toward splitting its next major multiple award IT contract into two parts: one that would be unrestricted and one for small businesses.

Jim Ghiloni, the program manager for the One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services (OASIS) contract, wrote in a blog post that this is GSA's "current thinking."

HUBZone Outreach Event
HUBZone Outreach Event – for Wisconsin and Michigan Businesses and Economic Developers
August 9, 2012, Bessemer, MI
With Guest speaker Eric Ness, WI District Director US SBA

The Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) program helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities.

These preferences go to small businesses that obtain HUBZone certification in part by employing staff who live in a HUBZone and maintain a "principal office" in one of these specially designated areas.

As a result of the 2010 decennial census, both Wisconsin and Michigan lost many of their HUBZone designated areas – and consequently, firms in those areas, lost their HUBZone status.

Wisconsin lost about 70% of their certified firms.

The HUBZone program is a great opportunity for qualifying businesses to gain a competitive edge in the Federal market both with federal agencies and Federal Prime contractors.  The current contracting goal is 3% - both directly to Federal agencies and their Prime contractors.

Join us on August 9 in Bessemer, MI (just across the border from Hurley, WI) to learn about the program and the opportunity.  Details are available in the attached flyer OR visit http://www.wispro.org/eventdetail.asp?ID=494
